INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITEE

Hello everyone!

Do you know how Olympic Games are organized? It is a hard job which takes many years. 

The INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITEE (IOC) is a not-for-profit independent international organisation that is committed to building a better world through sport. Created on 23 June 1894, just under two years before the first Olympic Games of the modern era in April 1896, the IOC is the supreme authority of the Olympic Movement.

IOC ensures the regular celebration of the Modern Olympic Games, supports all affiliated member organisations of the Olympic Movement and strongly encourages, by appropriate means, the promotion of the Olympic values.

For this reason, it is important they check our Project, so we will have to send them the information and ideas you propose.

Do you know where is the International Olympic Committee headquarters located? 

This is the information you must find:

1. City, Country (and its capital) and Continet where it is located.
2. Is this contry member of the European Union? If not, explain why.
3. Look for the countries surounded it and their capitals.
4. This country is located in an important mountain range. Write everything you know about it (name, highest pick, Main characteristics).
5. We can find the head of very important rivers in this mountain range. Write a list of them, choose one and write the information you know about that river (source, main tributaries, counties it flows, mouth,....)

When you have the answers to these questions , write a text with all the information you have collected about IOC Headquarter. You can do it on a sheet or in your computer (Word document, PowerPoint).The job you make will be included in OLYMPIC GAMES magazine section.

¿Sabéis como se organizan unos JUEGOS OLIMPÍCOS? Se trata de una trabajo duro que lleva un montón de años.

El COMITÉ OLÍMPICO INTERNACIONAL (COI) es una organización internacional independiente sin fines de lucro que se compromete a construir un mundo mejor a través del deporte. Creado el 23 de junio de 1894, poco menos de dos años antes de los primeros Juegos Olímpicos de la era moderna en abril de 1896, el COI es la autoridad suprema del Movimiento Olímpico.

Este comité (COI) asegura la celebración regular de los Juegos Olímpicos, apoya a todas las organizaciones afiliadas del Movimiento Olímpico y alienta firmemente, por los medios apropiados, la promoción de los valores olímpicos.  

Por ello, es importante que revisen nuestro Proyecto, así que tendremos que enviarles la información y las ideas que propongáis. 

¿Sabéis donde se encuentra la sede oficial del Comité Olímpico Internacional? 

Esta es la información que deberás buscar: 

1. Ciudad, País (y su capital) y Continente en el que se encuentra la sede. 
2. ¿Es este país miembro de la Unión Europea? Si no lo es, explica brevemente por qué. 
3. Busca (y escribe) los países que le rodean y sus capitales.
4. Este país se encuentra en un importante sistema montañoso. Escribe todo lo que sepas de él (nombre, pico más alto, características principales…) 
5. Podemos ver que en este sistema montañoso nacen muchos ríos importantes. Haz una lista de ellos, escoge uno y escribe toda la información que sepas sobre ese río (nacimiento, por qué países discurre, afluentes importantes, longitud, desembocadura, si es o no navegable)

 Cuando tengas las respuestas a estas preguntas, redacta  con toda la información que has recogido sobre la sede del  COI. Puedes hacerlo en un folio o con tu ordenador (Documento de Word, Power Point).Este trabajo será incluído en la sección de JUEGOS OLÍMPICOS de nuestro reportaje.
